My laptop died a while ago, so I haven’t burnt DVDs in a while. I tried to set up some software on my kids’ PC to do some burning. The PC has MS Vista as it’s OS.

I tried ImgBurn. I burnt 11 DVDs, but only 6 of them will play in my DVD player. They will play on the PC, however.

I tried CDBurnerXP, DVD Flick, and DVD Fab with no luck.

Can anyone suggest some DVD burning software that will work more than 50% of the time on a PC with Vista on it?

BTW, I am using TY Premium blank discs.

I'm looking for a cheap (free) solution, since using the kids' PC is hopefully a temporary situation.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is your burner's firmware up to date? Are you multitasking while burning?

actually.. nero 8 works well on fista .. imgburn should work too.. along with anything which can run and burn an iso.. only thing is.. is this a HP UK fista sp1 machine? .. drm to the max.. can't even copy your own home movies with those.

Let's see, you're using TY's as your blank media, and Imgburn to burn. Sounds like a setup for success. Are these +R format blanks? If so, try booktyping to DVD-ROM and see if that doesn't help them play on your stand alone.

What type of DVD player are we speaking of?

    The blanks are DVD-R.

Tried Nero 7 and Nero 8 too. Both create a dvd that says "Incorrect Disc" when placed oin the DVD player. They do play in the computer though. I've only had that happen with my old laptop when I burnt a PAL DVD (which my dvd player does not recognize). However, I checked the source files, and they are NTSC.

    I just don't get it.

Oh, I forgot to answer what type of DVD player it is.

It is a JVC. For sure an older model...a VHS/DVD player combo.

I can get the model # when I get home if it is of consequence.

I have not had any issue playing NTSC discs on this player before (discs burned on my old laptop).

The VHS/DVD player combo unit is a JVC HR-XVC25U.

I've tried Roxio too. Same result. Shows as "Incorrect Disc" in DVD player. Plays fine on the computer.
