Hi, Frank, Herbsman, or Other Gurus There: Realized some success after uninstalling the Primary and Secondary IDE Controller elements in Device Manager. I explained the changes in a previous posting. But now, after completing DVD Decrypting, DVD Shrinking, IMGTool reached 100%, but then the following error message appeared with a large red circle with"X" in it: ------------------------------------------------------ " I/O Error! Device: [0:0:0](G)<-- my DVD-RW drive CDB: 12 00 00 00 38 00 Interpretation: Inquiry Reason: The specified network resource or device is no longer available." ------------------------------------------------------ I tried to perform other operations with Drive G:, but no success. What do you suppose is wrong? Your assistance today would be greatly appreciated. Regards, wlloyd
Hi wlloyd, By deleting your IDE channels and letting windows reinstall, your transfer mode changed from PIO to UDMA 2 on device 0 of your secondary IDE channel. Thats exactly what you wanted it to do. What other operations did you try? Did you try a read operation with \:G? Open "My Computer", Rt click on Drive G, select propertys, select hardware, select the drive from the list, select propertys. This should tell you if it is working properly. You can also select "troubleshoot". Verify that the jumpers on your two drives are set correctly, drive 0 (G) should be at the end of the IDE cable and the jumper set to master. The drive plugged in to the middle of the cable should be set to slave. Tell me what you find out. Frank
