Got a sony slim crx830e in my laptop. xp recognises it as does nero info tool and no immediate probs seen. It starts though, when i put any disc in. It cant see the media on the disc. Have tried disabling drive, secondry ide channel in the device manager but to no avail. It seems that the drive as such is ok, but just wont/cant read data ! Hitting the drive in windows manager does not produce a "please insert disc etc" as one would expect if no disc was inserted. Irregardles, it acts if though data will appear but nought happens. Exactly the same when I DO have a disc inserted. Oh, bios recognises the drive, have tried cleaning lens, and tried the upper/lower filter thing. Any help/ideas appreciated.
Thats what I'm beginning to think. Oh well, another €60 out the window. Thanks for your imput anyhow.
