Hi, I`m a relative beginner with DVD authoring. I`ve managed to convert a video sucessfully to DVD but I want to re-chapter it - it`s a music video with 16 songs - in other words a chapter for every song. How do I do it? (I`ve tried Nero but it`s either complicated or I´m not that bright.) At the moment the DVD movie has chapters but they`re all over the place. Can anyone help me further ? Thanx PAD48
well if your using nero you should be able to do it relatively easy. there is probably a tutorial on it, but I can just explain it its not too hard. First open up Nero Smartstart, At the top you ahve to choose your media type, its set at cd for deault, change it to dvd. Then click on the photo and video catagory, you should see one that says "make your own DVD Video" CLick that. now the program will open, On the right hand side of the program there is a list, and it asks you what you want to do. Click add Video files, and add your movie. Now you should see your video on the screen. Click your video once, just so it highlights blue, when its highlighted, look back over to the list on the right, and click create chapters. when there its pretty easy, you just scan through the video to figure out where you want to start another chapter, when you could it, click the last button under the video screen, Add Chapter. Do that for all of them and then just click next. Then you can adjust your menu or whatever, but your chapters will be all ready.
Yeh, I just tried it and it works fine. I´m gonna have a bier now to celebrate and burn later!! Thanx again.
As an addon to this subject. Is there a way to add a video to the beginning of the burned disc that will start up as soon as it is inserted, and then after the clip the menu is sdiplayed with all the chapetrs?
You should be able to do that with DVD-Lab. It's pretty easy to use. You can get the demo here: http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/index.html
no problem with the info. As for the video playing before hand, Im assuming your also using nero..if so.. You have the same process as I mentioned earlier, When your at the Menu Creation stage of nero, Look at the bottom of the screen, where it says "More<<" Click that, Then Click Configure, it will say "start Playback with" And it will be set as Menu, Change that to whatever video file you want, now it will play before the menu.
Thanks. I can get the video to play upon start up, but the same vlip I am playing at start up gets displayed on the menu as well. I can't figure out how not to make it be part of the menu. I'm using Nero 7.2.3.2b and when I click the more option the window displayed has the options for what I am trying to do. It has an option for "Start playback with:" and has a pulldown. the pulldown always has menu or one of the files added to the movie. I have no option to pick any other file. The next option under this is "When finished playing a title:" and the pulldown options are: Play next title or Jump to menu or Loop title. I select Jump to menu, put I'm not sure if it is going to do that after every title.
I opened nero to check that out, I have no idea how to get it out of the menu, I was messing around with it and am stil clueless. Should I find out how to ill reply, but it dosent look promising since i think i clicked everything I could, Might have to go to a different dvd program for that task.
Just going back to the "Top" with the re-chaptering, I wanna say thanx again. I re-chaptered with Nero (v6) and burned - no problem and it`s great. I`m using Nero v6.6 and a friend told me not to bother updating to Nero v.7 as this version is not all that much better. Has he got a point. With the version I`ve got, it doesn`t do it all for you - you still have to use your head and figure out what to do next to some degree, and that`s okay. I think with Nero you have to know what you want and be perhaps more specific than with other burning software.
Thanks xtreemedy. i agree I tried everything to get it out of there as well. I'd go with dvd-lab, but don't feel like flipping for the cost either. I will just have to forego this option for this project.
yeah, it really depends the program, Nero suprised me when i first used it as it had mroe features than I expected, It does do a pretty good job of making it easy though. You could pay more and get more features, but thats up to you. For more basic burning issues nero does a great job. To get high quality professional editing they have better software, but not anywhere near the ease of nero, Ive Used Sony Vegas 6 for editing, and its a long time before you even get a hang of the software, but it can produce great results if your good.
