what programs should i use to copy encripted dvds And what gb dvds should i use. and what is the diffrence between DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW
Programs: Dvd shrink and Dvd decrypter are great programs and they are free.Nero6 and anydvd are also great programs. Dvd9: Larger dvds-both original and the blanks are 8.5 gbs and costs about $2 apiece when on sale. Dvd5: Smaller original/low budget flicks, and the blanks are single layer and say 4.7 gbs. First: You'll need a ripper, which dvd shrink and dvd decrypter can do.Dvd decrypter can also rip. You'll need a burn program, which could be dvd decrypter, nero6 or higher,or copytodvd in case you already have any of those programs. If using single layer dvd-5 blanks which say 4.7 gbs on them, then you'll need a compression program like dvd shrink. It'll shrink those large dvd-9 movies to fit onto those single layer blanks. Dual layer backups-dvd-9 blanks, you can use dvd decrypter's ISO read and ISO write mode on the majority of them. The size of the original dvd and if backing up onto single layer or dual layer media will matter as to how you may want to back them up.Some programs are faster than others. I rip with dvd shrink, sometimes using anydvd to help rip the newer releases.I then have it set to autoburn with nero6.6.0.14. This is a heck of a combo.I use mostly single layer regular/lightscribe/and inkjet printable dvd-5 media. Here's some guides: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html - is called dash, not minus + is called plus It's all different formats for dvds. Original dvds have a pressed in format called dvd-rom.That's the most universal format for dvd players.Backups-what we call the movies we burn, are on the Dash or Plus formats. These are 2 different formats as apposed to the dvd-rom original format. R: These are write once discs. Once you burn onto them, they can't be erased.Less expensive. RW: Re-writeable. These can be erased and used all over again. These run around a buck apiece. Very good to practice with, but stand alone players may have a harder time reading them, compared to the R formats. When it comes to all those formats and types of blanks, stand alone players can be sensitive to them. They may like a certain format/both formats/or none at all. Dvd shrink and Dvd decrypter haven't been updated for a while.A background ripper called anydvd by slysoft will help them rip those newer releases. Clonedvd is also and very good program, but not free. You still have to have anydvd for that program. There is a free 21 day trial for those 2 programs, and a special discount for us AD members going on through may. What's the brand name and model # of your dvd-rw drive/s? Some of them may prefer dash or plus, and some can even booktype the plus format media to dvd-rom making them more compatable on stand alone players.
