Someone was telling me that they label their backups and they look better than the originals. Can you tell me where to get the labels and or a program for printing them out. I remember there was somebody that had all the cd labels. I hope I am not out of line, just trying to learn.

wylds, Howdy and Welcome to our Club -

I use Neato brand (Neato.com) labels and scan either the originals OR the covers when the discs are bare. That way I can tell what the DVD is at a glance. I also label CD's without a problem.

A word of warning, unless you use an applicator, made for the labels you're using I'd stay away from them all together. Attempting to apply a label by hand will through it off balance and could make your disc unplayable and hard on the drive to boot. With an applicator I've done over 650 DVD's and a bunch of CDs with no worries. In the lot I've misapplied maybe 25 disks that had to have the labels removed then reapplied.

You can also go to the International Movie Data Base, the IMDB and retrieve covers and labels there.

Also available are DVD pens that allow you to write the names of the movies on the top of your DVD. Finally, If you wish to purchase a DVD printer, you can then buy write-able DVD discs that the label can be printed directly on the disc.

"Google," the info is there, pick what you can afford and you'll be happy. I think labels are great -

    cheers,

    Pete

If you want DVD covers at the click of your mouse try this site:
    http://www.cdcovers.cc/

You can then upload the images to print via a disc label programme such as Neato. Saves a-lot of scanning. I never have any problems using labels on discs but know that some people do.

And if you want save data for long time(ten years) ,you'd better not use labels. It will have chemic reaction with dye.Ordinary discs with labels can save for 3-5 years.
I usually buy them from [bold]http://store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrmedia[/bold]

wylds, Welcome to our Club there Fine Fellow -

    I didn't have that URL.

When you don't have a label for your DVD, a Cover is just what the Doctor ordered. So much better than crayons :)

    cheers,
