I have tried backing up StarWars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace by using DVD Shrink 3.2, DVD2One, Intervideo DVD Copy, DVD Ghost, DVDXGhost, CloneDVD, AnyDVD, DVD43, and DVDDecrypter. I have probably tried others as well but can't remember the rest.

The most recent I used DVDDecrypter version 3.5.4.0. I used File setting. While trying to copy VTS_06_3.VOB it failed. Here is the log file up to this point:

I have cleaned this dvd with scratch remover at least 3 times and there are no etches visible anywhere on the DVD. Any ideas how I can get this DVD to backup?

Well that error Means that either there is an error of some sort on the Disk or Possible there is a Bad Sector Copy protection on the Disk but I doubt it.....

You can Try a Different Ripper Like "DVD Fab Decryptor" or "AnyDVD" and if they don"t work you can try a Data Recovery program Like "BadCopy Pro" or "DVD X Rescue"....

    Good Luck

PS: You should also enable "Detect Mastering Errors" in DVD Decryptor....

I can't backup this DVD using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink or DVD Rebuilder either. Anyone out there been able to find a fix or work around for this annoyance? I have searched the web and can't find any resolutions though I have seen this reported here and elsewhere as well. ...anyone? ..please?

If you are getting the same type of error then try cleaning the disk or get another original, because it is more than likely a bad disk. I backed up this movie way back when just using the very old Xcopy and there is nothing special on this movie.

Dchron , did you try on DVD Decrypter to read the ISO file first, go to Mode and check ISO to "READ" file, hit the bottom icon to back it up to your hard drive and let it run , once is done go to DVD Shrink and OPEN DISC IMAGE File where the ISO had been saved and Open it up . Once is analyzed , start backing up and use Nero software to burn it or go back to DVD Decrypter and changed the Mode ISO to Write and click the icon on the bottom to burn it . If by any chance you get an error detect that means your original DVD has been corrupted. Good luck......!

hmmmm.... embarassing. *&%#! Yup, it was a dirty disc afterall. The second one I tried too. But after a decent shine job, worked fine backing up. Thanks for the replies just the same.
