We've got to thank our great friends at SONY Corp. They shut down dvd decrypter's development some time ago. You have no problems ripping older movies, but every day there are new types of protection that the old Decrypter can't manage. That's when AnyDVD kicks in. Running AnyDVD eliminates all kinds of protections (since they keep it up to date) so you can rip with any tool you like (Decrypter, Shrink, etc). AnyDVD is not free, but they offer fully functional 21-day trial. Try it and buy it if you find it useful. There are other free tools that could substitute AnyDVD, but sometimes they are not as effective so you have to do an additional step with them. For example you could also try to rip with DVDFab Decrypter. Here's an useful link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154 There's also a new kid in town called RipIt4Me. Here's the guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110
I forgot to mention. If you are going to use AnyDVD with Decrypter, you should modify some of DVD Decrypter options. Go to Tools and under the "General" tab uncheck the option that reads "Check for structure protection". That function will be performed by AnyDVD and having it checked could result in ripping errors.
