I have been using dvd decrypter without any errors for about the past year. I would like to know why I am getting this error and how to correct it.
The error message is as follows:

    Hi elohssa
DVD Decrypter is telling it doesn't like the media your using.
Your's drives firmware is up to date.
    What brand are you using?

I was afraid that it did not like the media. The media that it is having troble with is HP DVD+R double layer.

    thanks for the reply!

    No problem!
I don't know who makes the HP dual layer - not all that many manufacturers are making it yet.
You can check the manufacturer in Decrypter in iso read or write mode. On the right the manufacturer will be listed.
For dual layer go with Verbatim.

what about Fuji, do you know if they are any good? I have good luck in the past using Ritek.

    Yep that's the info!
Your's were made by CMC - a newer manufacturer to the dual layer market.
Their single layer aren't good either.

I would stick with the Verbatim DL. They were the ones who began manufacturing DL so they have been able to 'prefect' it.
Dual Layer can be some costly coasters so I would only use the best - Verbatim.
They're the only ones I use when I do dual layer.

I am having the same problem. I just opened a new thread before I found this one. I am using single layer dvd-r. I have gone through 4 or 5 blank dvds trying to burn. I didn't have this problem the first couple times I used it. Any known solution? I don't know the brand of dvds I am using. I lost the label from the package.

    http://www.imgburn.com/

Imageburn is the 'burning' part of DVDdecrypter, except that it is updated and now burns DL disks.

@dough06, if you put a disk in the burner and start imgburn it will show you the disk manufacturer.

I use imgburn with DVD Shrink (I just renamed the the DVDdecrypter folder to 'RealDVDdecrypter' and named the 'Imageburn' folder 'DVDdecrypter')

DVD Shrink then uses Imageburn instead of Decrypter.

    Hi Dsouth
Ok you've using good media and a good burn speed for games (I don't back up games - just from what I've read here)

See if there is an update on the firmware and we'll go from there.

Has anything changed pc wise since your were last able to burn?

    Your english is fine;)
Yes - burning problems would get me mad too!!
To rule out the media - try some Verbatim or made in Japan Sony or Fuji. Look for 8x.
Another thing to try is cleaning the lens of the drive w/ a dvd cleaner. You can pick ones of these up at a local computer shop.

May not help but you can also try to burn w/ imgburn - developed by the author of DVD Decrypter.

I would post the complete log in the Nero Forum for another go around.Don't like that 'spindle servo failure' part.Sounds like hardware failing?

    @dsouth
You did indicate in your post
A simulation burn with Nero will generate a more comprehensive log than 'Decrypter'.
If the problem shows up with Nero and Decrypter then chances are 'Decrypter' is not to blame.

What kinda games are you trying to burn - like PS2, Xbox etc?
Have you tried to burn a movie yet? If so how did that go?
