Greetings All. I tried to post to an existing 'Decrypter' thread, but I couldn't based on my level... Anyway, I still love using the best ripper out there... but almost everytime I open DVD Decrypter, the program hangs (cursor spins) when I try to choose my destination on my drive in 'My Computer'... any ideas??? I know this isn't the best explanation, but it's all I can think of right now to explain. I have to 'Cntrl-Alt-Delete' to stop the program and restart (sometimes 5x or more) for it to work. I've un-installed and re-installed, and that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe something's hosed-up in the registry and needs to be 'cleaned' or deleted? Just an idea. Thanks in advance for any ideas... this is really annoying. Come to think of it, it sometimes happens even when I use DVD Fab or the AnyDVD ripper too... Take care, Gregg
I haven't tried that... not sure how to do it. Is it the same as using Norton Ghost and 'reloading an image'? I have an image I can load... but I don't know if it's worth the effort. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try... Gregg
Seems like you may have got a virus or trojan. Are you using IE8? If you are, then go back to IE7 to see if you'll be able to run those programs again. I've been using DVD Decrypter and DVDFab HD Decrypter for ages and I've never experienced any issue.
Thanks Alkohol. That was my first thought, but I've run all my anti-virus (just installed Norton 360 2 weeks ago) and Ad-Aware SE Pro... and I don't believe either found anything. I'll run updates on both, and see what happens. Funny thing is... I was backing-up a few movies one night last weekend, and every one I did worked fine... no hang up when selecting the destination to rip to. Then yesterday, it happened. My other thought was that something is 'hogging' my virtual memory or something... but I have 1 or 2 GB of RAM, I believe. Maybe someone has thoughts on that? I did notice in my task manager window (when I have to 'kill' Decrypter) that I have ~6 entries for something called 'svchost'. I did a search on that, and found reports saying if you have something called 'scvhost' (not SVChost), that could be a virus. Not sure why there's that many in there. It's listed under the 'processes' tab in the task manager. Thanks again though. I will try scanning for viruses again... seems like something a virus would cause. Perhaps a Spybot check would find something. Anything else worth trying??? Take care, Gregg
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware here http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html and save it to your desktop. This tool is awesome, it's totally FREE and SAFE, I've used it on a daily basis to get rid of virus, malware and other junks, etc. <> start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware <> before you do a "full scan", click on "Update", "Check for Updates" then update <> click on "Scanner" and "perform a full scan" If there's any virus/trojans/malware, etc. Malwarebytes is likely to detect, then you can "delete" them and remember to delete them under "Quarantine" too. Good luck.
Thanks a TON Alkohol, I appreciate your help and suggestions. I will give it a try this weekend, and report back with results. Hopefully, this won't conflict with any other programs I have installed... anti-virus or otherwise. Have a good one! Gregg
Alkohol and All, I installed the program you mentioned and did a full scan last night... found (3) 'nasty' problems. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.31 Database version: 1494 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 12/13/2008 12:36:31 AM mbam-log-2008-12-13 (00-36-25).txt Scan type: Full Scan (C:\|D:\|E:\|F:\|H:\|L:\|) Objects scanned: 640681 Time elapsed: 3 hour(s), 12 minute(s), 48 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 1 Registry Values Infected: 1 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 1 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\xjado (Trojan.Downloader) -> No action taken. Hope it's ok to post the log... I think so. I don't currently have a movie to back-up, but hopefully this solves the problem of my PC hanging up when trying to navigate to the destination to write the files. Even if it doesn't, I'm VERY happy to see the program get this crap outta my computer! Thanks again for the tip Alkohol, I appreciate it! Maybe this can help others too, that may not have or use the program. I'll be sure to update and run often. Take care, Gregg
@Gregg You're welcome. Now you can enjoy this must have free tool with no worries. So did you "removed/deleted" those 3 nasty crap out of your computer? Now remember to delete them from "Quarantine" queue too. I use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware at least once a day just to scan my system and it's doing a fantastic job. Hopefully your back in business/burning again and hope your system is a little smooth than before. Well just keep posting and see what's next alright (i.e ripping/burning issue).
Alkohol, Yes, I made sure to delete those findings, AND delete them from the quarantine. Thanks again for the help. I will post when I try another movie... Take care, Gregg
