    Hi all,

    You can use dvd decrypter (in the software taab at the top of the page)to rip the dvd to your hard drive then use autogk (also in the software tab) to encode to avi format. Bear in mind you are looking at close to 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the entire process but you will end up with less than a 1gb file that can be played with any media player supporting avi formats.

    http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm a link to guides for dvd decrypter and other AD most used software.

    http://rita.lt/guides/AutoGK_DVDtoAVI.htm a link to guides for converting the ripped dvd files into avi format.

    As other AD users have stated give us a little more to go and someone can provide you with helpful info.

    Much respect and thanks to those who gave that information!
    to those who took offence..... that was not my intention and I will definatly give more information next time.
    All I could have ellaberated on was that I have used dvd -decrypter and now wanted to used the video file and make it an AVI file.
    Pretty simple really.
    I just thought you guys were smart enough to work that out.
    :p

    thank you again!!

    Don't doing that kind of convert compress the dvd? I want to convert a dvd to a avi, threw dvd dectipter or what ever and have full quality. I used a program and set every thing to the highest settings and the 4.3 gb movie turned out to be only about 700mbs and it looked really bad. Im not trying to hack the post, but its basicly the same topic that im after. Thanks

    Its much better, but sill way too much compression, but thanks for that program, i might be able to work with that.

    Is there any programs that does a 1:1 compression and has every thing the same size as the oringal dvd. Like a vob to avi converter or some thing, i can combine files if i have to. Ripping a dvd with no compression should be fast and easy, but its not for me lol. The first program i used looked like that one i just got, but older looking and the out put file was only about 550mbs from a 4.3 gb disk. The 2nd one had a 1 min and 40 secs i did for a test and was larger and looked better, and was faster, it was about 70mbs for that bit (more like a 1:1 rato.) I might be able to get what i want if i play with it some more.

    Hi,

    There are several programs: imtoo dvd ripper, autogk, aoa dvd ripper, super dvd ripper, no. 1 dvd ripper. When you talk about conversion to avi from vob there is compression and I personally have not seen any program that will convert to avi and not lose some quality. Imtoo dvd ripper in my opinion gives the best quality. Also you can try winavi to convert but all in all its a personal preference to which is best to you.

    @cmd1987,

    What program did you use that was almost 1:1?

    Im still looking. 10 hours with AoA DVD Ripper and it looks pretty dang good, but dang 10 hours for 1 dvd, and no my computer is not old. I think im going to learn more about how dvds work and how they read, so i can just make up my own setup for them (like put a entire movie in one chapter). Thanks for all the help.
