Today while burning a DVD with DVD Decrypter/DVD Shrink, the screen that shows you the percentage of encoding, the time continues to go up. I've been encoding for over 30 minutes and only at 2% complete. What's wrong. I never had this problem before.

could be DMA (6 read errors causes your drives to be knocked down from DMA into PIO mode); see here to reset the DMA if necessary - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html

try that out, check if the disc is dirty, and try again.

@teznz - bbmayo is redesigning his website. Try this for sorting DMA -

Also, latest firmware (version TS10) for your drive, dated Aug 2004, is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1911

Finally I have found and deleted MasterIdDataChecksum and SlaveIdDataChecksum.
When I check the device though it still states secondary ATA channel.
I,ve re-booted twice and double checked that I deleted both MasterIdDataChecksum and SlaveIdDataChecksum.

I have now also used Advanced Registry optimiser and cleaned and de-fragged the register.
Is there another way to change my drive back to DMA?

I know this is an old topic but did you fix the problem? I'm asking this because I just got the movie out of season and I couldn't get it to copy. I work in a movie store and I swapped my disc with 10 other ones and I couldn't get it to copy with anything. Decrypter would stop at about 22% and then just sit there while my dvd drive was reading the dvd. I tried it about 100 times with what seems like 100 different combinations of decrypter, clonedvd, and anydvd. I waited about 15 minutes and then it finally picked up speed and finished copying. Now, I don't know what movie you are trying to copy, but the destination for your dvd says "c:\out of season" so I figured it's the same movie that we are trying to copy. There's some kind of new protection on this dvd or there is some defect somewhere when they manufactured the dvd's. But if you fixed your problem then cool, if not, maybe just sit and let it go for about 15-30 minutes and see if that helps.

No offense, I know that I only posted once here so far...but atleast read what I said before you go and post something ignorant like you did. Halfway through my post you would see that I tried AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter, and CloneDVD...so thanks, but no thanks.

There seems to be a lot of bad pressings of retail dvd's these days i have encounterd this problem quite a few times just lately. I have had bad pressings a complete box set having the wrong labels, disc 1 is disc 2 disc 5 is disc 3 etc. Quality control seems to be slipping.
By the way Creaky i took note of your advice got hold of some ty verbs perfect burns so far a lot better than the usual brand of disc my local supplier keeps sending me thanksfir that i will stick to these in future.

that seems to be your answer to everything cynthia. It might work for you but if you read the log a bit more you would of noticed that it had already got passed the macrovision so i'm assuming then that its not a CSS issue but something else
