Just bout some Fuji / taiyo yuden 8X dvd +R media and checked them with dvd identifier and dvd decrypter to code them . Dvd identifier says that they are genuine Taiyo Yudens as I thought the would be . and also states that speeds up to 8x are supported which is as it should be for 8X dvd+r media. Dvd Decrypter shows that this samse media supports up to 16x speed . which program is right on the speed information ? I undersrand about the ability of some media to burn at speeds over the rated speed on some drives . I am using NEC-3500 & 2500a drives mainly the Nec 3500 for my burning and have achieved up to 12x on Fuji dvd-r 8x media before . should'nt both programs dvd identifier & dvd decrypter support the same max speed on the same blank media . Inquiring minds want to know like mine? Thanx to all my Afterdawn.com friends -New _ old - & those I've yet to meet ! Peace Y'all
I got the same drive (NEC 3500) and same media (fuji dvd+r 8x). Dvd identifier only tells u the recommended speed for the media it recognised. whereas nero, dvd decrypter, etc. (any program used to burn dvds) will read the speed of the media acoording to the specs given by the nec 3500. The drive is capable of burning this media at 16x. I suppose you have updated the firmware thats y it is able to write this media at high speed. hope that helps...
