Does DVD Decrypter write anything to the DVD, or just read the DVD?

It does "both," and is doing an amazing job bypassing the protection codes too. Bouble Click on "DVD Decrypter" on your desktop, click "MODE", ISO, then either "READ" or "WRITE", it does whatever you want it to.

Thanks. I guess what I'm asking is, if I decrypt a movie will the owner of the movie be able to tell that I did?

You mean you don't OWN the DVD? If you dont then that's illegal, but if you do then it's cool. To answer your question just so you know...no the store will never know that you copied it, the original isn't comprimised at all.
heads up never say what you said. your only supposed to use these (all of them online about dvds) boards to get info on how to back up movies that you have purchased, so that's the way you should refer to them!
