The operation states successful, but when I open shrink and click the re-author tab and go to the folder that I am copying my movie to there are no files there at all.
When I go to Windows Explorer and look in the same folder it is all there though.
I have tried to copy this about 3 or 4 times now and keep coming up with this same problem.
The disk is brand new....purchased from Wal-Mart....no smudges or scratches.
Anybody have an idea what this problem might be?

Try opening the folder using the Open Files command instead of navigating through Re-author. Once you've opened the files you can enter Re-author. Mine works either way, so I suspect it's a navigation error of some sort.

DVD Decrypter has not been updated in over a year. Because of that some of the newer copy protections are able to beat it comepletely. If you can afford it, I suggest you purchase AnyDVD by SlySoft. It is updated very often.

DVD Decrypter is still a dependable ripper when writing to the HDD. I use it all the time with AnyDVD. The DVD Decrypter rips and the AnyDVD bypasses the copyright protection. I was using the method before AnyDVD included the ripper. You're right though, if a person is going to be doing a bunch of backups, they should invest in a copy of AnyDVD. There's a 3 week trial available at http://www.slysoft.com/ .

    BroB,

I tried what you suggested and this is the error message I got.

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
    Failed to open file "C:\DVD Work\Copy File\VIDEO_TS.VOB"
The system cannot find the file specified.

Again I checked the folder in Windows Explorer and it is all there!
I also have DVD43 running in the background.

    Eric,

I wish I had the extra money to purchase AnyDVD, but I don't right now.

That may be your problem. DVD43 doesn't play well sometimes. If you haven't used the Slysoft trials, you can use the software for 3 weeks. If you can use the trials (you can if you haven't before) delete the DVD43 and install the AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2. You can always put DVD43 back later if you feel the need. If you have to have free use DVDFab Decrypter (without DVD43). I'd rap my kids fingers if I caught them near any of my PCs with DVD43. Delete the files you have on the hard drive and do them over with AnyDVD or the DVDFab Decrypter.

    hi

from what i can see it looks like a VTS error, now a quick shot is to rip in iso mode instead of file mode, but maybe more in depth than that and the next thing to do as mentioned is get anydvd and try again, i have also saw pgcedit tackle this with dvd decrypter (Run your DVD decrypter output through phase 3 of the PgcEdit wizard)

Give DVDFab Decrypter a shot, it is free and updated often. As Brobear suggested though, you need to rid your system of DVD43...it will only cause problems. Works much like DVD Decrypter in file mode. Can't remember is VobBlanker is needed to correct the structure for this one, so if once ripped and imported to DVD Shrink you get an error run the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker. Easy as a sunday afternoon stroll.

    http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm VobBlanker

Both free programs that will do the job for you.

Here is a guide on how to use the dynamic duo, substitute DVD Shrink for Nero Recode.
