Can anybody tell me what an I/O error is?? When dvd decrypter starts to burn is stops after about 30% an says: I/O Error ScsiStatus: 0x02 Interpretation: check condition Sense Area Interpretation: Peripheral Device Write Fault I am burning an iso file from my bachup using dvd shrink at 4x. Thanks
I/O errors are usually your drive communicating a read error. Since this is happening during the burn, sounds like your blanks may be causing some problems. What brand are you using?
I am using different media: maxell, khypermedia, memorex. I think it may be that I need to clean the drive. What do you think?
@I use some Maxell (made in Japan), but the other two should be avoided. Check the Maxell's out and see if they are indeed made in Japan...I haven't had an issue using those, but definitely avoid Memorex and khypermedia. Just my opinion. Good media, slow burns = less headaches. Happy burning my friend. MovieDud
wjs1012 The memorex & kypermedia are pretty bad and will cause burn failures. Maxell uses some good manufacturers. Use can use a lens cleaner and maybe some canned air to clean out your drive. I would also make sure your firmware is up to date.
well I tried using the cleaning disk but it doesn't respond. I can hear the drive making kind of static noises as it attempts to open the cleaning disk. Never opens. I think I need to replace my burner since all else has failed. I updated my firmware also. Any suggestions?

Well it's sounding like your drive may be at fault. How old and what model? Have you tried to burn w/ any other burning software? Here's a link to some other things to try: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=83984
I found out the hardway that the seat of your DVD burner might have accumulated some sticky dirt from the labels of other disks. Look around closely and see if you can find any residue around where the DVD sits. It also may be lodged inside (the top) of your player/burner. If anyone knows out to clean the inside of the burner let me know. n0v0n
