Nope never tried that as Dvd Decrypter (I believe, but may be wrong) can only burn the .ISO file (image).

Dvd2one ONLY creates an authored/structured set of files which are dvd compliant.

These files commonly can be burned to a dvd using any capable dvd burning software ie Nero or Recordnow etc.....just as straight forward data streams......

    Again I maybe incorrect.

The best method I've come up with is to use DVD decrypter to rip the DVD, then use DVD2One for getting the movie down to size, then Nero to burn the DVD. Basically just what the guides say to do. Any DVD cabable burning program should work in place of Nero though.

From your response, I am led to believe that ALL you have to go with is Dvd Decrypter to use as a burning application?????????

Unfortunately, this will not suit your purpose.

If you are using an NTFS format AND backing up a DVD5 (single layer), then Dvd Decrypter can handle this with ease - ISO read mode, then ISO write mode (to burn the image to dvd).

However if you are processing DVD9 (dual layer) then that is where your Dvd2one or Dvd Shrink will come in and therefore a proper dvd burning software such as Nero or Recordnow.

The image burner in Dvd Decrypter, basically takes a digital photo of the disc and burns the 'photo' back to dvd, so when you are dealing with DVD9 (which is >4.7Gb) then an image will not fit on a blank dvd.

I think you will need to invest in a suitable dvd burning software, if you have a lot of dvd's you wish to backup then it WOULD be a wise investment indeed.....

Have a look at http://www.chrismccann.co.uk for some links to obtain some trial versions and also some great guides.....

    Hope this helps....

Hey I could be wrong but im pretty sure DVD5 is 4.7gb and DVD9 is a dual layer 8gb. I could be mistaken on this but im pretty sure im right.

Revistup, If i were you i would go somewere and dl nero 6 for burning it works great you can get it here and i think at www.download.com First though you need to dl dvd shrink 3.0 to rip and compress the files. Shrink will do everything you need except burn it which is were nero comes in. Ive burned 4+ disks now with no problems.

    Goodluck

cnmsales......quite correct a DVD5 is single layer and can hold upto 4.7Gb (Loosely put)

A DVD9 is dual layer and can basically hold DOUBLE that of a DVD5, but due to this the data NEEDS to be stripped OR compressed in order to fit onto the commercial blank dvd (DVD5), so an image of a DVD9 WILL NOT fit onto a blank if the overall file size exceeds 4.7Gb......_X_X_X_X_X_[small]Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down

A better method would be to use AnyDVD to decrypt the DVD disk, then use DVD Shrink to transcode the files on-the-fly saving your HD space.

    1. AnyDVD
    2. DVD Shrink
    3. Nero

    Enjoy :D

Why are using anyDvd to rip - and then Dvd Shrink.

Dvd Shrink can do the lot, then burn - just curious - any particular reason Koola? or just preferance?

Yeah - people always forget that DVD Shrink does the ripping too. Infact, DVD SHrinks ripper is based on the Smartripper interface.

Dvd2one and Dvd Shrink are compression tools and will allow you to backup a disc FULLY with a loss of quality of course.....

I just keep the movie and find it much simpler using Dvd2one but with Dvd Shrink you can actually edit bits out you don't need.

Dvd Shrink can rip/strip/compress/re-author - all you need to do is burn then.....

Dvd2one can compress/join and re-author - then all you need to do is burn....

During the rip, for either they require the relative IFO files to be ripped aswell as the VOBS (if using a seperate ripper like Dvd Decrypter) then either will create a fully compliant structure of files......

These files just need to be placed into a folder called VIDEO_TS (uppercase), then just burn the folder to dvd.....

I use DVD Decrypter to decrypt the DVD's when I can't be bothered using WinDVD or PowerDVD to unlock files. (hope that makes sence lol)Otherwise I use SmartRipper. I then use DVD2One to compress and then burn using Nero6. I have never had a problem using these progs and have never spat out a coaster.
I used DVD Decrypter on Lord of the rings The 2 towers and got it onto 1 disk no problems and it's a spot on copy.
All of the above mentioned progs are great and can spit out exact copies.

great thanks for all for the tips, but i will play around with them, kinda hate to loose quality to burn whole dvd, when just the movie with chapters and dd/dts sound is all i need, pic is crystal clear. So the basic is dvdshrink is (dvd dec/dvd2one) all in one? Also what do you mean by " have never spat out a coaster". So far with dvd dec. I have done 4 movies in two days, beats vcd/svcd which cant take a whole day for one movie.

One more question for all, if the dvd is dvd-5 or dvd-9 (single or dual)(im checking each movie on this site to find out what kind it is)does it matter what it is if im just burning movie file and audio?

I find with all types of DVD weather duel layer or not DVD Decrpter works a treat. DVD2One cpmpresses it to fit on a single DVD and no one here can tell the diffrence btween a copy and a bought DVD. I don't use DVD Shrink or whatever its called lol. DVD2One is alot easier to use. Then all you have to do is burn using Nero.
With DVD2One you can have DTS and surround sound. I give these progs a thumbs up YAY.

By not spitting out a coaster I mean......... having a DVD that failed and being useless, what else are they good for besides putting your cup of coffee on (coaster)or giving them to the kids to make mobiles out off :)

Well you can use them instead of clay pigeons or you can build your own Leaning tower of CD's.
