    Hi seaglmr
    A couple of questions

Have you checked that the drives have DMA enabled
    and
Have you check your ASPI layer - You can use Nero tools for this check
    I hope this helps

my aspi layers are up to date and my drives are dma enabled apart from one that says pio and then dma enabled should all the drives say dma enabled

    Hi seaglmr
All the drives should have DMA enabled. Windows has a habit of downgrading the drives to PIO when the drive processes to many errors. My burning machine has been giving me a bit of grief with switching to PIO mode after backing up my kids music. When I go to burn in PIO mode it takes me 2 - 3 times longer to burn or backup as compared to DMA mode
    I hope this helps
