Chekc your media. That is usually the problem. You have to try different brands of discs until you find one that works in your DVD player. Verbatim or anything Made in Japan is the way to go, preferably DVD-R 'cause you have to usually bitset DVD+Rs to get them to work.

Below is a FAQ on what class of media is good and what class is bad. If you are backing up video then stick with Class 1 media.

    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

You will have to do a scan of the disc to find the Manufactures ID# to find it in the list.

You can do this if you have NERO. Choose the NERO INFO TOOL. Put a disc of the media in and run INFO TOOL. It will scan the drive and disc. Choose the DISC tab after nero scans it and the Manufacture ID# is in the list. Now just find the ID# in the FAQ above and if it isnt Class 1 media then trash it.

Could also be your stand-alone DVD player.

How old is it? What kind of media are you burning? Have you tried the same burned DVD's on any other players?
