Has anyone used both of these. If so, regardless of the fact that AnyDVD costs money and Decryptor is free, which one performs better? Keep in mind I am about to buy CloneDVD2, if that even matters. Right now I am using Decryptor and Shrink. I like cloneDVD2, cuz you get to keep the menues and its very easy to use in doing so.

any dvd works in the back ground
    read below
AnyDVD works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive, allowing you then to backup the movie using a DVD backup tool such as CloneDVD and CloneDVD mobile. You can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player and with any DVD player software.

AnyDVD is capable of removing unwanted movie features, including subtitles and prohibition messages such as copyright and FBI warnings. It also allows you to launch an external application whenever you insert or remove a disc, or prevent 'PC-friendly' software from automatically launching when you insert a video DVD.

Decryption is not all that AnyDVD offers. You can control the drive speed of your DVD drive, allowing you to reduce the noise level when watching movies on your PC. You can even adjust the display frequency of your monitor for both NTSC and PAL displays.

But AnyDVD doesn't just stop at DVDs. It also decrypts protected audio CDs to allow you to copy them.

    settings for DVD Decrypter

To use DVD Decrypter in conjunction with AnyDVD as stated by Olli ->

Proceed to the DVD Decrypter Opening Page - Tools - Settings

I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes"

General Tab - un-check "Check For Structure Protection"

I usually use DVD Decrypter, to rip with AnyDVD running in the background, and DVD Shrink, or Nero Recode to compress...and Nero to burn.

I don't understand. Why would I want Decryptor if I buy AnyDVD. I thought they did the same thing. Only difference being AnyDVD costs money and does a few extra things. Also that it does what it does automatically when you insert the disc to be backed up. Where as you have to run Decryptor and load your movie.

I agree with Tempot 100%. I even asked this question elsewhere in the forum and no one can give me a straight answer. Maybe people used Decrypter first and now old habits die hard..

Yes, AnyDVD removes encryption from you movie, as does DVD Decrypter. But I use Decrypter to rip to my HDD so I can have the file there for whatever program I want to use on it, such as DVD Rebuilder. I also use DVD Decrypter to burn movies especially dual layer backups, which this program does well. Having both programs does not hurt anything, sometimes more is better.

AnyDvd runs in the background removing protection you still need other programs to get it on & off your hard drive. Dvd Decrypter is no longer updated for new protections so this is were Any Dvd shines through. Dvd Decrypter still works great. It's all you need to do a D/L disc(with AnyDvd in the background). It works well with Shrink also. Any Dvd,Dvd Decrypter & Shrink is about all I use on a regular basis. I've tried others but always go back to those 3.
