In the past 2-3 months I have bought two DVD disk recorders for my computer. First I bought an LG recorder (with Nero software Plus InCD-which is non existant) and then a Mad Dog (Roxio software). Both do not copy to a RAM disk although stating they do on the box. Both Nero and Roxio support, along with LG and Mad Dog support have not been helpful. Before this I had a Sony CD writer that worked without a problem. I have a Gigibyte motherboard, AMD Athlon CPU, ATI All In Wonder 9600 video card, 1Gig memory and Windows XP Pro. Device Manager shows no problem. I have updated all drivers and software. What software is there that will allow me to record to a DVD RAM disk? Thanks, Frank C.
How old are your discs? If 5x they should be ok, but they are faster e.g. 12x, your drives may not support them until you update their firmware. Look here: http://us.lgservice.com/ Look under "Device Driver".
I use Verbatim and Panasonic DVD disks. Right now I'm having trouble with my Mad Dog DVD writer in that I cannot change the video on the disk or include some video. I get a message that the RAM disk is copyrighted or write protected and will not allow me to change anything. This is a Panasonic RAM disk that was blank, I took it out of the package. This disk was purchased at a regular retail store and was blank. Now if I try to format the RAM disk I get an error message that the drive or disk is write protected. I went into properties on the current videos on the disk and changed everything to Archive but after I click on APPLY and then go back into properties the video still shows READ ONLY. I've used the Nero, Roxio or ATI video transfer program to copy to these disks.
Is it possable that the dvd writer that originally wrote to the dvd ram has somehow locked out any other drive from writing to it or making changes unless you use that drive
Its possible. Quite a few factors are possible but I do not know how to verify what is wrong or make a change to correct the problem. Device Manager shows nothing wrong with the drive. The Registry has been cleaned and defragmented and two registry cleaners have been used.
