Any ideas as to why? It was a fairly simple install, atleast I thought so. Thing is, I would assume that the chip would have a lit LED light somewhere on it if installed correctly, and it does not. Any idea where I could have gone wrong if the chip and the DVD drive are both not powering on? There is no laser and it doesnt spin. The normal bios screen still comes up if I turn it on with the lid up, but if I have the lid closed when I power on or if I try closing the lid and accessing the disc the screen is just black.
sounds like cd drive faliure not all gamecubes are known for this but it doesn happen on occasion so it sounds like it is time for a new cube
Yeah, but is it no coincidence that it works before I install the chip and now I install the chip and it goes from working perfectly to completely dead? Not to mention, it seems the chip is not receiving power since the LED on the chip is not lit, and since the disc drive gets power in the same loop as the chip, would that not be some issue regarding the chip installation and not the drive?
assuming you have a voltmeter, check the voltage to the chip @ the connector when the GC is on. should read 3.4 volts from red-black. make sure you've got the wires connected in the right areas.. could be a simple mistake. Re-read your problem, do you have a lid bypass for flashing the chip with the case off?
OK thank you, I can use a voltmeter to check the voltage ASAP. Also, Ive just taped down the trigger to fool it into thinking the lid is always closed.
