I have a dvd r/rw drive (HL-DT-ST-CD RW GCE-8483B) that does go haywire. I format it to DLA and it works fine shows there is not anything on the drive. I shut my computer down and restart it and then it shows there is not any free space on the disk. Running Windows XP personal with 1 gig of memory, processor 2.6 intel. Does anyone have any idea what my problem is?

    Thanks for your time.

Thats normal. Any dvd rewritable drive without disk in it will show no free space, Now what do you mean format it dla?

Perhaps I did not make myself clear. There was a dvd disk in the drive all the time. Even right now there is a disk in the drive but it shows that it is full and I know that it is blank. I have, since posting the first time, checked for updates for the drivers but the lastest is there already.

The DLA is the format that is used with Sonic disk writting program.

I just put a regular CD in the drive and the drive reported that the disk was full and I know that is not the case.

    Thanks for your time.
