my dvd drive doesnt eject when i hit the button on the drive. It sounds like it tries to but wont open. i was able to do it through my computer for a while but now that wont even work. i opened the drive by sticking a pin in the little emergency hole. i blew some compressed air it the drive thinking that there was something in ther preventing the gear from working properly. that didnt help though. any suggestions on what else i can do.
It's not a software issue, it's a mechanical one. Your drive has gone to meet it's maker in that regard, and is not worth having it fixed. Consider the prices these days of optical drives, and just replace it with similar if you approve of the brand. You could persist with the emergency option like you have, but this will prove tedious in the end. Splash out and get another unit. PS: Look at the rear of your current unit and note the jumper setting (if applicable...IDE drives, yes...sata..no) and set replacement to same. This way you should have a trouble free "plug and play". Cheers.
