Im having a problem with my dvd drive when i put in my dvd+r it wont load up i hear a beap and nothing happens!!!!!!!it works for normal dvds! any ideas plz??
Do you mean it doesn't recognize a disk you burned but does recognize and play a commercial DVD? Is the drive a DVD ROM or a DVD burner? If it's a burned disk, did you use quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Made in Japan labeled Fuji and Sony disks.
Well, a DVD-ROM won't recognize a blank disk as there is nothing on it and it is not formatted. What are you trying to do?
Well then you can't use a DVD-ROM for doing so. You must use a DVD burner i.e., DVD RW drive. Do you have a DVD RW? What brand and model number?
Post the last section of your Nero log beginning with your serial number 1A... (edit this out before posting) located in the following path: Program Files -> Ahead -> Nero -> NeroHistory Are you following any guides? There are links to guides for doing various things in my signature below. We need to make sure you have a DVD burner. Try the other drive and see if that works for you.
OK, a CD-ROM drive will only read CDs. Your DVD/CDRW drive is called a combo drive if your description is accurate. It reads DVDs and both reads and writes CDs. However, it will not write a DVD. Does Nero list the drive as a CD or DVD drive? If Nero doesn't allow for selecting a DVD project but only a CD project, you likely have a combo drive and not a DVD burner. You can also go to WinXP Device Manager (right click on My Computer, select Manage, select Device Manager, expand DVD-CD-ROM drives). If none of the drives have DVD RW behind their names, you do not have a DVD burner and must acquire one if you want to burn DVDs. If you want to burn DVDs you must buy a DVD RW drive and install that, probably in place of the CD drive as the new DVD RW will also do everything connected with CDs as well. They are $38 shipped from Newegg this weekend with free 3-day shipping. I'd go with the BenQ or NEC 3550: http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Category.asp?Category=10
Go to Device Manager as I posted above and post back the exact name of the drive, letters and numbers, displayed there. I have an appointment I have to go to in a bit so if I don't reply for an hour or so, I'm not ignoring you. LOL.
