   Why don't CD and DVD drives come with audio cables for soundcard connection anymore. Am I missing something? Are these cables still required for new systems? I am building a PC and don't have one and local stores like circuit city bestbuy etc do not carry them.

   Nope, new PCs don't need them. It was a requirement for old DVD Rom drives.
