Ok, to start I've been trying to edit together some video clips in Womble Video Wizard DVD. The source video is mostly DIVX 5@29.97 w/ mp3 audio , XVID @25 w/ mp3 audio and some MPEG2 at 29.97 footage w/ mp2 audio. Everything is working pretty well, but when I encode the whole bit for some reason it doesn't track properly in wmp or vlc. I encode it as mpeg2 program at rez 720x480, 29.97 fps, with ac3 audio at 320kbps, high quality, 9/16 pixel aspect ratio, everything else default.

In WMP it almost has no idea how to track, and if I try to skip ahead in the video say 1 minute, its playing video from the 20 second mark. In vlc it handles it a bit better, except for some reason certain video clips play faster, especially the mpeg2's (which are all the same source). However ALL of the video plays faster than the parts with only audio.

I tried Quickstream Fix from VideoRedo, no help.

I demultiplexed it in TMPG Enc and then tried to remultiplex it. It spit out some error like "X s packets cause buffer overflow - The MPEG file might cause error when played". But still processed the video. Alas, it still didn't track properly.

When playing the split m2v in VLC, the fast tracking is still present. When playing the audio in VLC, its sounds as it should and tracks well.

    Any help?

I don't use Womble, so I cannot offer anything specific to it.
You are loading three disparate video clips, converting and joining in one shot?
Try processing each clip individually and satisfy yourself that they play ok.

thankyou for your input. i've solved these trackings issues in wmp and vlc. it seems that the womble encoder is terribly bugged. so i used the womble project file in tmpg enc (yes, miraculously it supports it) and it encoded it fine. I took my ac3 output that womble spit out and multiplexed the two together. i got the buffer error again but this time it was "1 s" rather than 214262135 s or whatever it was. the file seemed near perfect until i uploaded it on youtube, like i did with the first file (which i didn't mention in the original post). disappointingly, this file has some lagging issues in youtube just like the first. around the beginning where i have TV static footage along with some channel changing effects it lags atrociously (it stops and gives me that spinning loading animation) unless I let it fully load. Even then it doesnt play smoothly at this point. I have a feeling its the static footage. there is something amiss with it. I will replace it later and report back. in the mean time if anybody has some other suggestions it would be appreciated

the original problem doesn't seem to be inherent in the womble encoder now as i see it... when it had worked in tmpg i had ran it CBR rather than VBR (which i had done in womble). the same problems arose when i encoded as VBR in tmpg. strange. i don't know why this is a problem.

later i will get around to trying the video on youtube though.
