Hello, I am new to this. I have received the following error: DVD Encountered an error and cannot continue Invalid DVD navigation structure Can someone tell me what this is and how it can be fixed. Thanks I would really appreciate it.
hi rubyjane. can you tell us what software you are using that gives the error? is it the only thing you used? the free software methods include 1. dvd fab decrypter -> vob blanker -> shrink -> burn (imgburn, etc.), 2. ripit4me. see below for download and guide links.
rubyjane, If you are using Shrink this error means it can not handle the encryption on the movie, to get around this here is a little guide for you. This is what to do if you are having trouble backing up your movies: Here is the free way of making perfect backups: 1) DVDFab Decrypter - this wil break the movies encryption while ripping the movie to your HDD http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm 2) VobBlanker - Not always needed, but it will get rid of any protection that DVDFD left behind. VobBlanker also allows you to blank, replace, cut and strip titles. http://www.jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm 3) DVDShrink - this will allow you to compress the movie to fit onto a blank DVD-5 disc. Select your output as an ISO image http://filehippo.com/download_dvdshrink/ 4) Imgburn - the best free burner around http://www.imgburn.com/ Here are some guides: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=51904 DVDFab Decrypter guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154 DVDFab Decrypter and VobBlanker guide by Alkohol http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/article_vobblanker_page1.html VobBlanker guide http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/ Shrink guide The other free option: RipIt4Me. I do not know anything about ripit4me so I will leave you with the excellent guide by arniebear. You can also download RipIt4Me from the same link. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110 The other way $$$$$ Anydvd works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie. All you have to do is start up anydvd and continue using your normal compression engine, whether it's shrink, recode or clonedvd, It's that easy. Before you pay for this excellent program you have a 21 day trial http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html What else to do to insure good quality back ups: 1) Update your dvdwriters firmware 2) Invest in good quality media Taiyo Yuden and Verbatims are best. Also look out for Maxell,Sony,Fuji, MIJ's (made in Japan) these are also extremely good blank media. 3) Burn @4x is a good place to start
Thanks everyone for trying to help me with my little problem here. I am using: DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 I am going to try doing what pazzini has listed. Crossing my finger because this is a really good movie.
yeah you can use anydvd behind dvd shrink and it should handle it fine, if not try using clonedvd 2 with anydvd.heres a guide http://bbmayo.home.comcast.net/
@rubyjane any of the suggested methods ought to work, as long as you have the latest versions of each software (not sure how recent the dvd you are backing up is, but the more recent it is, the more necessary for current versions of the software (some, such as shrink and dvd decrypter are no longer being updated, thus the need for the other current decryption tools)). let us know which method you used and how easy and successful it all was!
i get that error message when try recopy a copy so sometimes i would explore the disc slect all drag and drop in a folder on my desktop it works sometimes
Thanks everybody, I was able to copy the movie to my hard drive using DVDFab Decrypter then burn it using dvd shrink. This was the second time that I had received this error message. The 1st time was when I wanted to burn Annapolis. Again, I want to thank all of your help. Have a GREAT Day/Evening...!
dvd shrink doesnt have a burning engine built in so you had to use nero or dvd decrypter to burn not dvd shrink
