When I burn a dvd, after it reads the disc, it asks to insert the disc to write and then it comes right to finalizing it. It does not write the disc. Any suggestions as to what it could be?
Can't tell to much from your post...We need details...as near as I can tell you are having some sort of media issue. Are you using any sort of a guide? What version of Nero are you using? Did you get any error messages? What are you actually burning....avi?
I got this problem before. I think it boils down to software conflicts. DVD X Copy doesn't get along with very many programs. I think it was Roxio Easy CD Creator that it didn't like for me. If you want to try some great alternatives that are free, try DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. There are guides on how to use them in my signature. Click on either bbmayo's or scubapete's link, although I found mayo's guides easier to follow (no offense Scubapete.
connie50, What is the brand and media code of your blank discs? Use this free utility to determine media code. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
Thanks for responding. I have always burned dvd's using verbatim dvd-r dvd-recordable for video. Someone asked my husband to burn a dvd for him and bought color fujifim dvd's. And, for some reason it would not burn to dvd to the blank color dvd's. In the meantime, I used up all my verbatim and used fujifilm, that my brother in law bought for me on sale. I was able to burn three movies using fujifilm, afterwards I can not burn anything now. This is what happens: it reads the movie, i insert the blank media, it starts writing about 5 seconds and then states finalizing. I thought it could be the media, but i am or was not sure. I have a sony computer, if that helps. HELP
I still say it's the software. When I had that problem I tried a few different kinds of media and saw no change. That was actually the reason I stopped using DVD X Copy.
My son is having the same problem. He primarily uses DVDXpress to burn and he burned a DVD Friday evening and tried to burn another one and his burner stopped burning. He has a Dell with a NEC 2100A (I think) burner. At first we thought it was Xpress (he rarely ever has a problem with it, but I think it sucks) so we tried Shrink/Decrypter and same problem. Then tried Any DVD & CloneDVD - same problem. His burner has the latest firmware, hdd was defragged on Tuesday, and there is no spyware/popups. The media is Verbatim DataLife Plus -R and also Fuji RW. The burner will play a musical cd and if you put the store-bought dvd in and double-click on the drive, it will display the files, but for some reason it won't burn. It is still under warranty for another month so I told him to call Dell. Just curious why it would burn one dvd and then simply stop burning. I was debating about uninstalling the burner and rebooting, but I have never done that and wasn't quite sure what the steps were. Any suggestions? Thanks. Tom
connie50 and tsquare43, I would try what tsquare43 is considering. No guarantees but it's worth a try. Go into device manager < hardware < IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers < locate your dvdrw < disable < reboot < go to same place again to make sure windows reenabled. If not reenable and reboot. Try using your burner. It's a place to start anyway. Hope this helps. Mort
I tried maxell media and I was able to burn 3 dvds without any problems last week. So, I went to purchase maxell to burn a dvd tonight, guess what it did not work this time. I am going to disable the dvd, but if I have to purchase another dvd software, what would you suggest? Is dvd shrink/decrypter a dvd software burner?
Use the XCopy forum for XCopy questions. http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com finalization issues have been addressed many times in that forum.
