The only time DVD Fab has stopped responding on me was a scratched / dirty disc. Have had 2 titles that would freeze DVD Fab and when I got a different disc of same movie - Fab worked just fine.

First off...as stated Dvd Shrink does not burn, it needs a burn engine to carry that task out.

DvdFab Gold/Platinum contain it's own burn engine VSO. Which i don't use as i favor Imgburn.

    A solid setup to follow:

Dvd Fab Hd Decrypter to rip. Full disc, DVD9

Dvd Shrink to compress or transcode the file to fit on a DVD5 disc.

Imgburn to burn the file to the DVD5 disc.

I got advice to use dvd fab then use dvd shrink. How do you do this? Also my DVD fab keeps freezing up on me and I have to go to my task list, end the process and start over. Finally after 4 or 5 times if I am fast enough it will work. I wrote to the people at dvd fab and they had me download the newer version of it but the same problem persists. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Doug

What movie are you trying to rip? Is the disk clean, any scratches on it? Are you doing full disk or main movie? The more info you provide, the better we can help.

What I don't understand is that dvd fab burns the movie for me, so How do I use dvd fab to decrypt it, then dvd shrink to burn it?

If you set the dvd output to 'dvd 9' and set it to rip to a folder, then you can open the folder with dvd shrink from there to compress the movie.

Shrink does not burn. Follow rtm27's advice then use DVDFab or better yet ImgBurn to burn to disk.

Yes...when you reach a certain level here at aD you become precognitive. :)

Actually, the post-time problem has been documented here:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/683145

    And admin has been alerted.

Until the problem is resolved...we'll continue to be psychic and all new thread will be haphazard. ;)

dougrempe, just click on the links in 7thsinger's signature, and all of your prayers will be answered.

Edit: I hope poor Doug can find his way through his own thread because now I am even lost.

OK. I use dvd fab to decrepit it, then dvd shrink to compress it, and imgburn to burn it? As it says I am a newb The only software I have ever used was dvd shrink, and now I have two new programs that I don't understand but I am excited to learn. I actually think I am figuring them out as well. Does anyone have a few quick shortcuts that I can take to quickly get this down?

Thanks in advance, it is greatly appreciated.

@doug, what ever you do, do not use nero 8 to burn. Nero 6 or 7 way better. Better yet, use 7thsingers precognitive (and sagely too ) advice and use dvd shrink with imgburn (autoburn)

I'm still not there yet :(

OK. I am having trouble trying to manage all three programs to get one movie. Does any one have some advice on what I need to do to use DVD Fab, then DVD Shrink, then IMG Burn. I just can't figure out what to do . I have only ever used dvd shrink (which automatically used Nero) and I am unfamiliar with dvd fab and img burn. I guess what I am looking for is someone to hold my hand through the whole thing. but I guess I could learn the whole thing program by program with the guides to them. I am so lost.

    Thanks again everyone

    Doug
