    Hi there,

    Burning at 2x is smart, it's what I do also.

    Media quality can be 1 problem also.

    What brand of media are you using ?

    You can check the Media ID using http://www.dvdinfopro.com

    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
    is also a great place to search and get feedback on media id.

    Are you having more issues near the end of the movie ?

    Burning to close to the edge of the media is also an other cause of problems, usually more on cheap media.

    I use DVD Shrink and I have choosen a CUSTOM size for the output.
    The default is 4464 Mb and I choose 4300 Mb.

    My 2 cents worth !

    @SPMALE9,

    I have to agree with "cougar_ii" regarding this issue. Nice call you have there cougar.

    spmale9 - perhaps, you can try to update your dvd burner's firmware, if only you have not done it - be very careful though. Whenever your backed up/burned movies skip or freeze up when playing on stand alone dvd player means it's either the movie was backed up on a low grade dvd media, or your dvd player is a little too old i.e. 2 years or older, then it can not play any DVD+R media, unless you have to booktype it into a DVD-ROM format.

    actually the best place to get blank media is online at either supermedia store.com or meritline.com.or rima
    the best blank media to get is in order, Taiyo Yuden,Verbatium ,Ritek
    If your going to get blank media at stores best buy ,office depot are good to the store brands varie quite a bit ,the Made In Japan stuff is the way to go if buying it in a store Maxell,Fuji,TDK or Sony (but you wont find any Verbatium MIJ) but Verbatium is def. some of the best you can buy.
    as far as the type, DVD dash R or DVD plus R is the way to go if you use DVD plus R book type them to DVD-ROM for the best compatablity for your stand alone dvd players

    Damn aabbccdd,

    I could care less what you wrote, I was too busy druelling over your sig. Is that you? Better change that if you want people to concentrate on what you're saying :) But anyway I agree on media choices except for ritek(good budget media but not in the same catagory as verbatum or taiyo yuden IMO). I would try one of the others first.

    verbatum
    taiyo yuden
    sony
    fuji [mij]
    maxell
    ritek

    Just my $.02

    @SPMALE9,

    Personally, I prefer the FUJI/Taiyo Yuden and MAXELL (both with 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan") because I can easily set the "booktype" from a DVD+R into DVD-ROM format, which will make one of my 3 yr old stand alone dvd player reads/plays flawlessly. Other top notch medias are "Verbatim and SONY" -- these 2 are pretty high quality medias and they're definitely as great as the TY/FUJI and MAXELL as well.

    If you want to get some high quality medias online, then you should go with http://www.supermediastore.com or http://www.meritline.com or http://www.rima.com - these are the best 3 places to go if you're considering purchase online. On the other hand, if you live in the US, then you can get them at your local Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc.
