    Hey Guys

I have an AVI file of a movie, and I converted it to DVD format using WINAVI. I then burnt it to a Sony 4.7GB DVD+R DVD disc using Nero 8, and pop it into my DVD player. The first scene plays perfectly, but then @ the beginning of the second scene, it just starts freezing and breaking up (playing, stopping, playing, stopping) in split seconds.

What is the reason for this? Did I do something wrong? Is it my DVD player?

    Any help would be appreciated

what do the Sony disc code out as? use DVD Identifier to find out.using Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim is you're best choice

try booktyping to dvd-rom for better playback compatibly

and a slower burn speed 4x to 8x max

I ran into a similar problem with a dvd I ripped a while back. I ripped with dvdfab and cleaned/edited the file with vobblanker. The final file size was small enough to fit on a dvd-5 with no compression so I burned the vob files to disk. I soon found out that none of my dvd players liked vob files and started a constant pause/skip routine at a certain point in the movie. I then went back and converted the vob files to a video ts folder using dvd shrink. After that the movie played back with out a hitch (the same thing can be achieved with fixvts as it keeps the file in video ts format).

If you're movie's skipping constantly every few seconds then I would say it's probably a compatibility issue with you're dvd player. I use nero 7 so i really don't know much about nero 8, not sure how to change the burn speed.

Defiantly follow ZoSoIV's advice though; quality media and proper burn speed can solve many playback issues.

Hey I got it to work. It was the DVD player, so i went out to Walmart and bought a "Daenyx" DVD player, which plays CD-R, CD+R, DVD+R, DVD-R, MP3, WMA, and displays photos for only $35.00, which is a pretty good deal. (CANADA)

    Thanks for all the help!
