dvd install help

    Hi I know I have seen a thread on replacing a drive but i can not find it.Lets see if I got it right.
    Turn off power & unplug,remove drive & replace with newwie making sure slave/master thingy same as previous drive,replace ribon & power cords to new unit. Now do I have to unstall the old burner in XP before starting project & will my present burner software work in the new drive? Will XP find the new drive when I restart?
    Project is replacing Lite/On cd burner with a Samsung dvd rom drive[no driver]to save a bit of work on my LG4120B dvd burner.
    LG S/Ware is Power DVD,Power Producer Gold 2,I have Nero Ultra 6.6.0.16, Shrink/dvd Decrypter.

     No need to unisntall and XP will find your new burner .. Your software will accept the nrw burner, also .. Happy Burning

    Thanks catfreak. Gee I love my XP soooo much better than the ole 98se A/dawn pretty cool also.
