Hi, most of the time a dvd player has the toughest time reading the data nearest the outer rim of the disc and that is also where the end of your video is. Best suggestion is maybe it's time for a new dvd player, or if it's a new one then a non defective one or how about not such a cheapo player.

Friend, then your probs appear to be either u are trying to burn more than 4477MB of data on a single sided disc or u are using poor quality media( I like Ridata or best is Taiyo Yuden) or a not so great burner ( I like plextor 760). U r correct a denon is not a cheapo, but a great player. Apologies

Which player shows the freezing? Denon or the el cheapie in the bedroom?

Denon's are expensive indeed, and also picky. A lot of denon users have a hard time for them to recognize their backups, but at least yours does..

Backing up entire disc or main movie only? Compression can factor in.

What's the brand name/model#/and current firmware version of your dvd-rw drive? It may need a firmware update to help the writing strategy.

What brand name/format/and speed rate of media are you using? MID could would help narrow it down.

Nero infotool should answer those questions for you.If not,try this free program:

    How fast you burning them?

Using paper/sticker labels on your backups?

Keep the burn target size at 4360 mbs and stick with the quality media like taiyo yuden and verbatim. You can reduce the target size in Dvd Shrink:

Open up dvd shrink/edit/preferences/click on dvd-5/scroll to custom/enter 4360/ok and she'll stay that way until you decide to change it. Crap media, take that size to 4300 mbs,and keep the burn slow.
