Hello everyone, what an awesome site! I'm starting to get more involved with DVD authoring and recently obtained DVD Lab Pro. I'm excited to use it but for the life of me I can't seem to import/convert any video into the asset bin. My videos are large mpeg layer-3's. I understand mpeg-3's are in fact mpeg-1 audio layer 3. Still I can't bring them on board and I've seached far and wide on this site and the net for an answer but have come up short of anything truly helpfull. If someone would kindly point me in the direction where I can get some codecs/mpeg encoders(or decoders) I would be most gratefull. Thanks
For DVD authoring, you will need Mpeg-2 video files. It is best to use elementary streams (.m2v, .mpv, etc...). You can try TMPGEnc. It comes with a 15 or 30 day trial (I forget): http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/index.html http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/e_main.html There are also free mpeg-2 encoders, but I am not familiar with those. As for a decoder, ffdshow is a great one to start with: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm
