I have burnt over 50 disks and they all burnt fine, but in play back i noticed that the Cheaper Opt.1X unbrand had some errors and there were freezes in some scenes. I still use them. But i might just stay with Ritek 1X. They seem fine, i did have one problem wit hone, about 1 hour and 40 mins into the movie it freezed, with 5 mins left. That might be a error on the program or something happened. After i finsh this batch i'm going to go fro Ritek Go3, that's 1 X that's if i can get them for a good price. I used ritek 4X, man 15 mins is alot better then ritek 1X takes about an hour to burn.

You can burn 1x at 2x, but I would not recomend it as the disc will most likely fail. It`s not designed for the higher speed. you should always stick to the certified speed rate.

I bought Princo for $1.49 CDN at Canada Computers. They seem to work for what I want to do as long as I keep my movies under 4GB I have no problems. Over 4GB and at the end of the movie it starts to lock up.

The first thing to know is that DVD media/burners are a jungle of interoperability problems. I highly recommend checking out http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters and seeing how others have done with a particular media and the burner you own before purchasing.

I haven't bought from https://www.myeshop.ca yet but their prices definitely look good: 50 spindle of 4x Princos for $99 cdn. 100 Ritek 4x for $305 cdn.

If you find a better price post it here!

I get all my media from the USA. Ritek G03s from http://www.precisioncddvd.com for under $2.00CAD with shipping included via USPS Global Express. No brokerage fees like with UPS and my DVD-Rs arrive within 5 days. Can't beat that.

Why is there no brokerage fee? Or do you have to get the global express? Is there a way to find out how much brokerage and duty will be before I put in the order?

There are never brokerage fees when you use US Postal Service (USPS), but there almost always are with UPS. Never, ever get anything shipped to Canada by UPS unless you like to throw your money away :)

If you use US Postal Service for shipping (any method) you'll just be charged PST/GST and possibly duty (6.5%).

jimmy, I was wondering how many dvds did you buy? because doing some calculating (including shipping, tax and duty) It'll probably end up being just under $3cdn/disc. I guess you being in the US you don't get charged the duty and maybe pay less tax???

I'm just about to order from the same place and figured that it would cost me $1.55 per disc (code 1651) if I bought 3 of the 50 packs. This is after ems shipping, duty...

Did you go with the UPS standard instead of USPS airmail? That's my guess why you paid extra to the shipping company. Im going with the airmail and assuming that the brokerage fee is included.

I second that. Just got my 50 ridata 2 days ago and they are real, verified, ritek. Good prices and Tom is a good guy. He sent me some TAIYO YUDEN 2X testers but I don't recommend those. Buy Ritek. Good disks._X_X_X_X_X_[small]Intel Pentium 2.4 ghz

Very tempting, but the ritek are just to expensive. I've tried the optodisc and my ps2 seems to finally be happy with those. I hate to have to buy stuff from outside canada but the price is right. Approx $1.50 each after all the fees, taxs... and there even 2x (better than the 1x I use now)

Yah, 1X riteks that burn at 2X work out to be $2.27 per disk canadian, but they are hands down the best disks for the money. I found others (princos, ect..)to play about 5 times right through and than start skipping on me. As far as I'm concerned, Riteks rock._X_X_X_X_X_[small]Intel Pentium 2.4 ghz

hey gazix, the optodisc you use are they blue top? 'cause I tried unbranded optos and they weren't as good as the blue tops.

I'm about to put an order in on some 1X riteks from blankmedia.com so would guys say that the 1X riteks are a lot better than say 1X princo?
And the Riteks are at a great price too.

I am new at this DVD burning game.

    Thanks

Riteks are the most reliable disk I have ever burned. I have tried lots, including princos, and riteks are exponentially better. Like way, way, way , way better. Get it?

Ritek vs princo, I would select Ritek. I have tried both with ten disc packs and only got 2 princo's to work. Where only one Ritek failed on me. These where DVD-R discs and where 2x, burned at 1x speed. I personly would not buy Princo until they figure out a good dye system to use. Opto discs are (silver dye) work better then Princo's purple dye on my toshiba burner.
