    I found this company who sells blank DVD-r `s for $1 a piece ? (100 Primedisc plus 100 DVD cases for $200)
Are these the right type to copy movie backups to ?
Will they work with an DVR-A04 ?

So basically I am asking what the difference is between branded and authoring etc

www.shop4tech.com ( I am not affiliated with this company)

First of all, "unbranded" DVD-Rs wont burn at 2x generally and other than that, you just need to try various brands and see which one work with your stand-alone DVD player.

ya, If you got money stick with Pioneer DVD-R, but if you want to save money... try unbranded... some of them is actually pretty good... I tried princo, meritline, primedisk, optodisk, universal, USDM(us made).. and only one working for me is universal www.buy-dvd-r.com has them... princo just sux, meritline doesn't play on my setup, primedisk copies errors... optodisk??just don't like them
