After finally getting a new DVD Burner from Microadvantage (thankfully still under warranty), I have been experimenting with different kinds of media. I found out so far that TDK, MEMOREX, IMITATION, and ULTRA media seem to work fine. I have also found that VERBATIM DVD-RW's seem to work pretty good. I have been part of this forum for a while but until yesterday I made only a few burns before my DVD burner gave out. It took my friend a month to put my burner in and an additional week for him to test it. I had it for a weekend before it burned out. It turned out that the problem was the firmware wasn't up to date and I used cheap media which actually burned the drive out. I found out that they fixed that problem with a firmware fix so it wouldn't keep cycling through the media and burn out the heads and other parts of the drive. As a result of this, I wouldn't buy STARR media from officemax.
