I have successfully ripped VOB files to my hard drive. When I play the VIDEO_TS folder with my PC DVD Player, the submenu items take me to the wrong parts of the DVD. How can I fix this?

Have u ripped the complete dvd, or just selected files.

It sounds to me like you have ripped the wrong files.

I came across this in dvd decrypter.
    - sometimes (if you have main movie selected) dvd decrypter locks onto the wrong files, thus giving you bad rips/results.

Hit ctrl a, and highlight all and try it.

I ripped the entire DVD. All the files listed on my hard drive are the exact same names and sizes as the ones on the DVD.

    Strange that one.

Your signature - is giving email out - check out the forum rules, I would suggest you alter it. (no offense)

    Back to issue.

What happens when u put the original in - does it do the same thing? - bad dvd if it does.

    How are u ripping - dvd decrypter/smartripper.

I use dvd decrypter alot with no major issues.

What settings are you using, ie file/ifo/iso etc.

Actually just thought, when you play the VIDEO_TS folder - HOW are you playing it, it sounds like you are just selecting the VIDEO_TS folder and playing it - yes....

    Have u powerdvd?

The original DVD works fine. I am ripping using smart ripper because I can't make DVD Decrypter rip all of the titles. I haven't even gotten to authoring or anything yet. I use PowerDVD to play the VIDEO_TS folder.

Is this a multiepisode dvd or a movie?

How are you selecting the files to play within powerdvd, if you just select the video_ts.vob you will get TOTAL confusion as it will play ALL of the menus, extra features etc.

To play the movie all you need to do is:

Select the vts_ vob's this will play the movie then

Yes, this is a multiepisode movie. I am playing the video_ts because I want to see all the menus and extras to make sure I have the same movie as on the DVD. I don't just want to play the movie. I want all the extras too.

When you play in powerdvd, HOW r u selecting the files to play AND what files are u selecting(not the folder, but files within).

Usually IF you go into file mode AND select all(ctrl a), click on add, then play - this should play the dvd files correctly... (click remove all first to remove any left there previously)

I do select all the files from the folder. The issue isn't with how the movie plays. I just need to know if there is a way to edit the menu file so that it links to the correct places in the movie. I have burned the files to a DVD and the links are incorrect.

How did you process it - sounds like an ifoedit issue here....

If you use dvd2one (full disc) this should make a 1:1 of the original, or dvdshrink (free).

There was no IFOEdit involved. I used smart ripper to capture all the files, identical in name and size to the DVD, and then Nero to burn it.

I take it, that the original was below 4.36Gb.

if it wasn't you will need to compress it using dvdshrink, or dv2one.

If it was, you may have to run it through ifoedit and ' get vts sectors' to produce the correct structured sectors/ifo tables.

DVDShrink and DVD2One capture the movie only. I want the extras. The movie was small enough to fit on one disk. I just need to know how to remap the menu.

The latest version of dvd2one - gives you the full disc option, this works 1:1 with a loss in quality.
This will give you the menu AND extras.

Some good guides for dvdshrink/dvd2one available at dvdrhelp.com

These guides explain HOW to do a full backup 1:1_X_X_X_X_X_[small]I never did mind about the little things[/small]
