::Sorry if i placed this is the wrong Thread:: Anyways before i had Xp Pro, I was using windows 98SE. And i was backing up dvds alot of the time. BUT i was doing it away that was alot easyer and time saving. I had put my Purched Dvd in my (DDrive And put my Blank Dvd into my (EDrive (Witch is my burner ofcourse) And use DvdShrink to burn straight to one and enother. Instead of Copying to Hard drive and going to long way. Well now im on xp pro and when i try to do that same process it wont work. For Example: I placed my purched dvd into my (Ddrive and my Blank Dvd into my (EDrive and then open up DvdShrink and press Back up and and burn right away i think it was. My (DDrive wouldnt read my movie anymore, I have tried alot of movies and it will not read it. Im not sure why i cannot use that process anymore now that im on xp. If someone knows my problem. Id be really happy to know because id do anything to go the easy way around backing up Dvd's. Thank You.
So is it burning just not to the E drive or not burning or reading the disc at all, could be ur DVD drive not working properly or in need of a firmware update or in need of a clean.
My Buner Works Fine, its just other other Drive That im having problems with. It wont read my Dvds like it used to before i had Xp. It is my Cd drive E:.. But it actually is for Dvds too.
Well Its a Compaq Dvd-Rom Sd-612b And the Media Type says its Cd-Rom. Does that help any? Manufacturer is Standard Cd-Rom
Yes, it was working while i was on 98SE, but then upgraded to xp pro, and now it wont read my dvd's. But the device says its working right. so i donno
Still doesnt work, once i place a dvd in the drive, it tries to load but then freezes my computer and i have to hit Alt-Cntrl-Delete. So im not sure what the problem is.
After doing some searching on Google, seems you are not the only one that has had that exact same problem. http://forums.winforums.org/showthread.php?t=5826 Here's the firmware update that might fix the problem, might not. http://www.samsung.com/Support/ Follow thru, put in your drive model number.
Actually what i did to fix my problem, Where it can happen alot of the time and people may not know it is that the lens can get dirty. So thinking about that idea i took my Rom apart "Witch wasnt fun" Because it was kinda hard getting the top to come off. Then use'd a Swab Peroxide Solution to clean it. Then used another Swab that was Dry to wipe it off so that its dry. placed it back in my tower. Put my dvd in the drive. And it loaded through DvdShrink! Thanks alot for the help though. Im always on this site asking some sort of a question.
Well.. turns out its done it again and freezes my computer. Im just better off buying a new Dvd Reader.
You should contact the manufacturer or the place where you bought it from before you go buying a new one.
Well its not like i can get them to give me another one or whatever, Because this pc is pretty darn old and i gotton it from my brother...
