I have seen Movies that are 1080P such as LOTR that are usually 4.3 GB in size... is it Possible to Turn a DVD into a HD movie? Using some kind of encoder?

If you have an upscaling DVD player (such as the Sony DVP-NS70H), you can get [bold]near[/bold] HD quality. on my 1080i plasma, it looks fantastic.

Im talking about making a backup with the movie (movie only) encoded to HD settings... is that possible? because i've seen LOTR movies that are listed as 1080p at around 4.3GB... so that can be burned onto a movie, and played on a regular DVD player with, maybe not 1080P since my tv doesnt support it, but it will sure as hell be better quality. Or am im all wrong lol?
