Help! My DVD drive no longer recognizes a DVD, it will read CD's but when I put a DVD in it says no DVD found. It was working untill I tried to copy a friends DVD to a used DVD-RW. I burned some of the movie then it said it encountered a problem and had to close, when I restarted it it no longer worked
Although this link refers to the restoration of DMA, the steps are the same inasmuch as you want to uninstall the controller that the burner is connected to then reboot to let the drivers be re-installed. Normally (not always) the burner is on the Secondary IDE Channel. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 The second part of the link which refers to a VBS script should not be used in your case.
I really appreciate all your help but it seems my DVD reader was shot and I had to replace it and now all problems are solved. My new LG DVD RW is even better than what I had, I am more than satisfied with this excellent burner! Thanks all!
