Ok so, im new to modding my xbox. Just recently i got a nice skin for it, and decided to just go all the way and pimp it out. So i went to xbox-modchips.com and found the xenium ice modchip and decided to get it. When i go to purchase it, it asks to purchase other accessories as if its needed for the chip. The one option says dvd playback(recommended). My question, is, i dont have the remote or whatever to play dvds, when i install the modchip, does it gave me playability to play them? or do i still need that remote?

Also, i guess its one of the better chips, and was wondering if there are any sites that give full information on how the chip works, and what you can do with it exactly. I want to be able to get snes and n64 roms and stuff put on there, but like i said, i dont know much and a lot of information on that site is all jibberish to me. thank u

don't buy the dvd playback they just trying to get money. when you install the chip and when installed the dashboard unlocked's the media so you can play dvd's, backup's, and much more. and no you do not need the remote to play dvd's.if i were you i'd go to this site to buy mod chips http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/search.html

I just read about a 50 page instruction manual on how everything works. I have a 1.6 xbox and the chip i ordered said it was solderless. i dontn o how to solder, or what it is, which is why i ordered it. But wen i read the manual, it informed me that i HAVE to solder it because of the version i have. And theres a lot of talk on how if i touch this or do that, i can screw up my whole xbox. It just seems like a lot of work and im nopt sure if its all worht it in the end. It also mentions about adding new bios, and that it is located on the cd...what cd? isnt the bios located on the hd?

Ok i went to that site and decided to get the smartchip. i guess the only thing im not really sure about now, is soldering. What do i need for it? And also, if i replace my hd, what kind is the best to get? Not necessarily size but, manufacturer that can be used for my xbox.
