DVD playback problem with Sony DRU500A

    I have had the Sony DVD writer installed as both master and slave on the secondary IDE, with UDMA mode chosen. In both cases writing is excellent at 4X speed, however DVD playback is terrible. In PIO mode DVD playback is perfect but writing speed is very,very slow.

    Any ideas how I can get perfect DVD playback and fast burning speed without having to switch back and forth between UDMA and PIO modes?

    Try burning it at a slower speed. 2x. See if that works.
