Well first I'll start out by saying i have a Philips DVDP642 DVD Video Player Dvd player.

I have the .avi's that run perfectly on my computer. Although after I burn them to a DVD and play it, I run into a lot of different problems. Some .avi's won't even show up on the DVD, others play with the color extremely off where the movie is completely unwatchable. Some play flawlessly. I tried using DivX repair (from the sticky....by the way thank you that program will be extremely useful.) but no luck it says the files are okay. So is this the way I burn the movies,(I use DivX player and just use their burning program, although I've tried Nero 7 on it and had no luck either) or is this in fact my DVD player?

    Specs
    Intel Core Quad CPU
    Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry if this question has been asked but i looked and did not see it.

I had the same dvd player you have now. You can either
process your .avi files using AviDemux as in this thread:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/710534

or do it the "easy way" by getting a Philips dvp5990.
The dvp5990 plays most .avi files with no processing.
If you get a stubborn one you can try loading into
AviDemux and saving as unpack vop type file then burning.
The save is very fast. Set AviDemux preferences as noted in
    the link above.

btw if you do get the Philips 5990 use the Silver remote you
have now because the black plastic one that comes with
    it sucks out loud. :)
