I have burned DVDs and can play them on my computer, but not on my DVD player that stands alone. I think I figured out why...because my player isn't compatible with DVD+R's I guess. I only figured this out after looking up compatibility with a link on your site. Is there anything i can do short of buying a new DVD player to play burned DVDs? Also can someone suggest a DVD player that plays all kinds of discs including DivX and others. Thanks!
you can 'booktype' +R discs, which makes them appear to be dvd-rom discs to the player. however your burner has to be able to support booktyping or bitsetting as it's otherwise known. what drive do you have ?
I am not sure what you mean by what drive do i have? I burn from a laptop and it is my D drive if that is what you mean. I did buy a new DVD player that plays everything I wanted so i am hoping that will solve all the problems. But if you could tell me how to do the book thing i would appriciate it.
i mean it depends on whether your DVD burner is capable of booktyping +R discs so they appear to standalone players as dvd-rom discs ie the player thinks the disc is a movie you buy from a big store or wherever. download this free program - it will identify your drive, then we can establish whether your drive can booktype or not.. - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm Install and run the program , then at the top of the program it will displkay the name of the dvd burner - paste that info here
Thanks for your help, but I just went and bought a new DVD player and everything works out great. It was a $80 fix, but since I am not to up to date on all the new computer extensions and stuff it was worth it rather then myself trying to figure it out. Thanks Again.
