Hi, I posted a thread a while back about my DVD Player saying "incorrect disc format" or "bad disc" or if the DVD would play it was very jumpy and pixelated. A few suggestions of you guys were new media. (New = Taiyo Yuden) Also lower speeds (I Burn at 4X now) Also background interference (I now only have burning software open) So the only other one was get a new DVD Player. Any Suggestions for a good DVD Player. It neeeds to be able to play DVD-R because half of my collection is on DVD-R. I am in the UK but dont mind importing one from the US if needs be. Many Thanks Ben
Most newer players will play both - and + formats. I hear the el cheapos will play anything you throw at 'em. I'd take in a burned movie to the store and try it out before buying.
agree with squizzle. take a copy of ur burnt dvds into a store. just did this at best buy and said i want ot make sure it will play my "home video archives" i only use 2 types of diff media 1for -r and 1 for +r, so just made sure it played both, then made the purchase. its a sanyo-50 bucks baby!!! i dont know if they have best buy over there though.
I too just recently bought a Sanyo from WalMart, and it works great. Also own an two el cheapos an Apex which will play anything and is about two years old, and a Cyberhome which is 35.00 and will also play anything even a pizza, however heard the lifespan is not too great, but for the money it is okay.
lol is the apex a little silver box lookin thing? got me onna them 2, and yep it loves playin cold, leftover pizza. y buy expensive stuff when it wont play hardly anything?
No my Apex is an older one that is a black big boxy thing, however my son has the small silver one, which is what the Cyberhome looks like, very compact and boy they do not give a crap about errors, it even plays old DVDXcopy backups on cheap media, which freeze my expensive Panasonic DVD Recorder.
yep mine plays my xcopy express cmc mag backups. man i just read what i wrote--talk about a double threat for disaster lol
My Apex turned out to be a piece of crap, though it was back when they were selling for $25. I returned it to Wal-Mart. Videohelp.com is cool to look up compatibility for dvd players
