I just bought my first cheap $35 Radio Shack standalone dvd player. My tv has only cable connection type input. I hooked up dvd player to video VHS player line 1 input. video player cable output to tv cable input. Most times it works. Sometimes I get blue screen off and on and lousy picture. I assume this is copy protection on rented DVD. How do I get around this. Previously I would watch on my PC. Am I stuck with this or is there a work around?

    sounds like faulty connections...

copyright wouldn't cause that, try hooking DVD to TV

how are you hooking everything up? scart? coax? details are needed

TV only has a antenna connection for cable type connector. DVD will not connect directly to tv. No input or output on DVD for cable tv (like VHS has). DVD has RCA type jacks and some other multi-contact jack. The "blue screen" appears and disappears. Not able to watch rented DVD's. All connections and wire are good. The DVD goes into the VHS. The VHS output is to the TV. Only way I could think of that did not involve lots of switching of wires or switch box installs
