Using Win XP SP2 Home, Nero 6.6, SONY DRU-710A, Taiyo-Yuden DVD-R 8x I burned two DVDs from BUP/IFO/VOB files. Both DVDs played fine on my PC, but not on my Panasonic DMR-E85H (Cannot Play message). One DVD was burned using the Nero Express 6.6 (DVD-Video option) and the other using Nero Vision Express 3 (Make DVD option). The Panasonic is my only DVD player, so I haven't been able to test the DVDs on any other. Where should I look for a solution to this? First off, if that is your real serial #, I would edit it out. Secondly, try these solutions: - Try re-installing Nero. - Try burning the DVD slow (1x) with DVD Decrypter. Use a high quality DVD-R. - Your last option would of course get another dvd player... Hope that helps.
You have good media and the only thing I see in your log that sticks out is an old version of Nero, it wouldnt hurt to update to these Nero burning http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe NeroVision digital pack http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe If you do upgrade, don't install the INCD option, it conflicts with other programs sometimes. I see it is set up on your current system, but i dont think thats your problem. Your dvd player may not like DVD-R disks. Try using DVD+R in the future and I believe your Sony can be set to booktype these to DVD-ROM. There is an option in Nero to set it, I'm at work and not in front of Nero to explain it but all you do is press a button and it auto burns all +R discs to DVD-Rom making it easier for players to read.
That DVD Recorder supports the -R format and not the +R. http://www.burnworld.com/dvd-recorders/panasonicDMR-E85H.htm Other than upgrading your Nero, the only thing I can think of is that you didn't finalize the disc. Or somehow InCD got in the way. You might also want to upgrade your burner firmware, BYX5 is out.

Version 6.6.0.18 is the last stable version of Nero6, versions later than this one are known to contain bugs.
No YT means no yahoo toolbar for windows explorer. Some versions of the upgrade come with an additional toolbar and you were linked to a copy that didnt install extra junk on your computer.
Thanks again, folks. Two things I hate the most about some software - extra junk installed that I neither need nor want and infestations. I notice that on Nero's download page, the Yahoo Toolbar box is checked by default.
Many people feel the same as you, thats why that particular link is the one given out to try and help those with burning troubles. Thats why I always do a manual setup of any program instead of automatic because even though I might still add all the features of a program, I have a choice to install the random toolbar or search page (did you ever get a google style search engine "spyware" on your machine? not fun to remove). Anyway keep everyone posted as to your progress.
It looks like the source files are bad in some way. I upgraded the SONY drive, burned a DVD and got the same result. Then I upgraded Nero and Nero Vision to the suggested levels, and still got the same result. I began to think that maybe there was something wrong with the input files, so I tried another set of DVD files - this time the burned DVD played fine on both the PC and the DVD player. To make sure, I did it again with yet another set of DVD files and got another successful result. To pound the last nail in the coffin, so to shriek, I downloaded another set of files from the same newsgroup contributor and had the same unsuccessful result. The DVD files were created from VHS tapes, but there's no indication of how it was done or what software was used.
