Ok, so here is the story. My grandpa needs files backed up off his computer (he has viruses from his friends). He bought 100 DVD-R (memorex) DVDs and he needed help backing up his stuff. It is a compaq desktop and has DVD+RW burning capabilities.

The problem is when I put in the DVDs they only have 700MB of room on it. It is not the DVDs because I brought up my Sony DVDs and they only show 700MB also; I tried the DVD on my laptop and it was read fine.

How would I fix this, so I can restore his computer to an earlier time, because sometimes if you do a system restore to an earlier time it deletes stuff. I can't use the DVDs as just 700MB because he has around 10GB of data (mostly pictures) on his computer.

Thanks for all help in advanced,
    Cmertin

what software are you using for burning? maybe it is set to cd not dvd. im using nero and it has an option like that, so when i insert a dvd and forget to set it to dvd as the target, the system also read it as 700mb

I am using some software that automatically changes the disc.
